If it is out right now
Try these three before you call anyone, including us. They are free, they take two minutes, and between them they are the whole answer often enough to be worth the two minutes.
- The breaker, at the panel and at the disconnect box beside the outdoor unit. Both, not one.
- The thermostat batteries, and that it is set to cool and not to fan.
- The filter. If you cannot see light through it, that is very likely your fault and it costs a few dollars to fix.
Still nothing? Call. A person answers, at any hour. You get the fee before anyone is dispatched, and we will tell you on the phone if it can wait until morning at the daytime rate.

Frozen coil, water around the air handler, or a burning smell: shut the system off at the thermostat first, then call. Water where it should not be is a different emergency and that page covers it.

Where the cooling actually goes
St. George recorded 98 days at or above 100°F in 2024, the most on record, and the all-time high is 117°F. On a day like that an attic runs far hotter than the air outside it, and in most houses here the ducts run through that attic.
Every joint that leaks is cooling you generated and paid for, vented into the hottest space in the building. The return side is worse: where it leaks, it pulls that attic air back into the system and your equipment spends the afternoon cooling the roof.
It is also the answer to the room that will not cool, more often than a bigger system is. Sealing costs a fraction of replacing, so we look at the ducts before anyone quotes equipment.

We are not a dealer
We hold no factory certification and no dealer status from any manufacturer on that list, and you should know that before you decide.
Those programmes are real, and they are published. So if a contractor tells you they are “factory authorised” or “certified” for a brand, ask which programme, and ask to see it. It is checkable, which means the absence of it is checkable too. Ours is absent and we have just told you.
What decides whether a system lasts is not the badge on the cabinet. It is whether it was sized for your house and installed the way its manufacturer says. We will tell you which yours was, and you can have that in writing whether or not you buy anything.
The quote is the number. There is no second number.
