Whole-home repipe

Replacing the water distribution in the house. Every fixture on its own line back to a manifold, tested, inspected, and the walls patched.

One flat fee to find out what is wrong. You are told it on the phone before anyone is dispatched, and it comes off the job if you hire us. Read our Plain Terms

What the work is

A repipe replaces the supply piping through the whole house rather than chasing failures one at a time. It is done when the existing material has reached the end of its life: corroded galvanised, failing copper, or grey polybutylene.

We run it home-run to a manifold where the house allows it, so every fixture has its own dedicated line. That removes the pressure drop you get when two fixtures run at once, and it means one future failure affects one line rather than a branch.

The system is pressure tested and inspected before anything is closed. You see the test.

What is included

  • A walk-through and a written scope before we start, including every place we will open
  • New distribution to every fixture, home-run to a manifold where the layout allows
  • Surface and contents protection through the whole house
  • Pressure test and the permit inspection
  • Drywall patching to a paint-ready finish
  • Removing the old pipe where it can be removed

What is not

  • Painting
  • Repairing the drain side. This is supply piping only
  • Replacing fixtures, unless quoted in
  • Structural alterations to get access
  • The water service between the meter and the house, unless we quote it separately

Grey pipe, 1978 to the mid-90s

A lot of housing stock in this county is from the era when polybutylene was installed. The guide below explains how to tell whether you have it, without opening anything, and what the practical options are.

If you have it, you want to find out on a Tuesday rather than at 2 a.m.

Under the slab

If the slab is post-tensioned, nobody cuts it until the cables are located. A post-tensioned slab has steel tendons under load running through it, and cutting one is a serious and expensive mistake. We scan before any saw touches concrete, and where we cannot get a clean read we reroute overhead instead of guessing.

What to ask anyone quoting this, us included

  • What material, and why that one?
  • Home-run manifold or branch, and why?
  • Exactly where will you open the walls, and who patches them?
  • Is the permit and inspection in the price?

What we can show you in writing

Every line traces to a document we read in full. The number after a sentence points to the research below.

  • Polybutylene supply pipe is grey, sometimes blue or black, in half-inch and three-quarter-inch, and stamped PB2110. That stamp is the definitive marker. The early acetal insert fittings with aluminium or copper crimp rings were the dominant failure point.1
  • It fails from the inside, where chlorinated water attacks the pipe wall, and it concentrates at stress points like fittings and bends — sometimes bursting with little warning.1
