What the work is
A shower that has gone stiff, a tap that drips, a valve that will not hold temperature. On this water the usual cause is mineral scale on the cartridge rather than a worn body, and a cartridge is a fraction of the cost of a fixture.
We carry the common cartridges and we will fit one rather than sell you a fixture where that is the honest answer. Where the body itself is scaled or the trim is obsolete, we will show you why and quote the replacement.
What is included
- Diagnosing whether the fault is the cartridge, the seat or the body
- Cartridge, seats, springs or trim as required
- New supply lines and stops where we are already there
- Testing under pressure and under real use before we leave
What is not
- Opening a wall to reach a valve body, which we will show you and quote first
- Tile repair where a valve has to come out through the finish
- Sourcing obsolete trim, if it no longer exists. We will tell you before you book
Why yours keeps doing this
A mixing cartridge furring up with white mineral scale is what this water does. Replacing the cartridge fixes today; treating the water changes the interval.
If you are on your third cartridge in three years, the fixture is not the problem.
What to ask anyone quoting this, us included
- Is this the cartridge or the valve body?
- Do you have the cartridge for this brand on the truck?
- Why does it keep happening?
