What the work is
A walkway is a narrow patio and fails the same ways: settlement at the edges, a dip where a downspout lands, and a fall that runs toward the house instead of away from it.
The base gets the same treatment. The edges get restraint on both sides, because a narrow surface has proportionally more edge than a patio does and edges are where movement starts.

Where the downspouts land
A walkway that crosses a downspout discharge takes the whole roof's water at one point. That is worth designing around rather than discovering.
